Thousands of years ago, humanity was nearly wiped out by ancient beasts of mysterious origin, leaving behind otherworldly obelisks as silent reminders of their near extinction. In the present, Jorunnd (yor-un-d), a praetor of the Five Lands Alliance, must track down the origins of a highly addictive drug threatening the kingdoms' stability, only to uncover a connection to the resurfacing creatures. As the beasts return, Jorunnd realizes that survival is no longer enough - humanity itself must adapt to confront the horrors of the past or risk being consumed by them once again.
